Guidelines for authors

Revista Tecnológica Ciencia y Educación Edwards Deming is a scientific publication on original and unpublished research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and academic-scientific discussion.

Authors who wish to submit articles for consideration by the Journal's Editorial Committee must

1. Send the article through the platform

2. The Journal seeks to publish experimental and theoretical research results of great importance in the form of original articles, reviews, short articles or letters to the editor.

3. In case of dispute between the results of a first round of evaluation/refereeing, or by decision of the editor and/or the editorial director/coordinator, a second round of evaluation/refereeing may take place.

Omissions to these guidelines, special cases, controversies and exceptions to the editorial intervention process will be judged and resolved by the editor, whose decision will be final.

 

Original articles: Articles that represent in-depth research in various scientific disciplines.

Review articles: Normally comprise less than 10,000 words. Meta-analyses are considered reviews. Special attention will be paid to up-to-date references in the review.

Short articles: They should be complete manuscripts of significant importance. The total number of figures and tables should not exceed 4. The number of words should not exceed 3000.

Letter to the editor: Comments on recently published articles.

3. The article should be submitted in Word format. It should also include: Title of the article, author(s) and institutional affiliation. The institutional affiliation should be as detailed as possible and should include university, city and country. In addition, all authors should have e-mail (institutional), ORCID (http://orcid.org/) and Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/). It is essential to indicate the author of the correspondence or, otherwise, it will be assumed that the first author will assume this role. The text should be typed in Arial font, size 12, single-spaced.

4. The submission of the article must be accompanied by the curriculum vitae of each of the authors and the letter of assignment of rights signed by all authors.

5. Write the article with a maximum length of 8000 words and up to 50 references. The article should have the following structure: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion (Results and discussion can be combined in one section), Conclusion and References.

 

Title: The title should be brief, concise and descriptive. It should not contain bibliographic references or compound numbers or non-standard abbreviations. In Spanish and English.

Abstract: The Abstract should be analytical (Objective, Methodology, Results and Conclusions), not exceeding 200 words. The Abstract should briefly describe the purpose or objective of the study, how the research was conducted, the most important results and the main conclusions drawn from the results, respectively.Avoid references and abbreviations.Spanish and English.

Keywords: Authors are asked to provide 4 to 6 keywords to identify the main topics covered. These keywords are used for indexing purposes, for which they should be included in the UNESCO Thesaurus. English and Spanish.

Introduction: Authors should strive to define the importance of the paper and the rationale for publication. The discussion of the background should be brief and limited to relevant material.

Material and methods: Authors should be as concise as possible in the theoretical and experimental descriptions. The section should provide all necessary information to ensure reproducibility. Previously published methods should be indicated with their references and only relevant modifications should be described.

Results: The results of the study should be clear and concise. Limit the use of tables and figures to the representation of data that are essential for the interpretation of the study. Do not duplicate data in both figures and tables. Results should be presented in a logical sequence in the text, tables and illustrations.

Discussion: You should explore the significance of the results of the paper, not repeat them. Include in the discussion the implications of the results and their limitations, how the results fit in the context of other relevant work, and directions for future research.

Conclusion(s): Can be independent and related to the objectives of the study, with new hypotheses when warranted. Include recommendations when appropriate. Unsupported claims and conclusions that are not fully supported by the data obtained should be avoided.

References: It is the authors' responsibility to ensure that the information in each reference is complete and accurate. All references mentioned in the reference list should be cited in the text and vice versa. It is recommended that bibliographic sources be taken from Scopus and Web of Science.

6. Submit figures, maps and images in a minimum resolution of 266 dpi in jpg or gif format. All these resources must be numbered consecutively and clearly indicate the corresponding source(s). Only horizontal lines should be used in tables according to APA standards, Seventh Edition.

7. Cite bibliographic sources, less than 40 words within the text, as follows (Author, year and page). Example: (Rodarte, 2011, p. 52). References with more than 40 words are written separately from the text, with indentation on both sides, without citation and without italics. At the end of the reference, the period is placed before the data -Remember that in references of less than 40 words the period is placed after the data-.

8. Consecutively numbered footnotes are used only for clarifications, comments, discussions, author's submissions and should be placed on their corresponding page, in order to facilitate the reader's reading of the text.

9. References are based on the APA norms, Seventh edition. Remember that all references must be indented.
